SPIRITUAL WARFARE PRAYERS

Rangers are a pretty competitive group of people. Most of us simply hate to lose. Therefore, it makes sense that we equip ourselves to win. Most of us did this every single day that we spent inside the Regiment. Every waking hour was spent on the Big 5-marksmanship, physical training, medical training, small-unit tactics, and/or mobility, which are essential for the success of all missions. The Big 5 all focused on wartime or battlefield tasks. Few of us are in positions now that demand we focus on these things, but it does benefit you to keep some emphasis on physical fitness. However, whether you recognize it or not, if you are trying to walk with God, you must be prepared for constant spiritual battles. God’s enemy and ours (the Devil) will do all he can in the spiritual realm to discourage, disrupt, and defeat us. So, this month, I just want to provide you with a few short spiritual warfare prayers that I have found helpful over many years of ministry. Use these prayers to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, to stand firm in your faith, and to experience victory in these spiritual battles. I did not author all these prayers but have assembled them from various sources during my lifetime of trying to walk with the Lord. My prayer is that they may help each of you and provide some key biblical references for spiritual warfare.

  1. Thank you God for the Lord Jesus whose sacrifice on the cross rescued me from my sins and any stronghold thrown at me by the Devil. Amen. Colossians 2:13-15, 2 Corinthians 2:14

  2. Lord, help me to steadfastly trust in You, to win today’s spiritual battles and to bring glory and honor to Your name! Amen. 1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 6:12

  3. Father, help me today to submit to Your authority, control, and will. Led me to say “no” to the schemes the evil one may throw my way and “yes” to You and abundant life. Help me resist Satan and see him run away! Amen. John 10:10, James 4:7

  4. Lord, thank you for spiritual weapons like faith, truth, and righteousness. Thank you for always being there to help me in my walk. Help me keep my mind fixed on what is noble, true, admirable, and excellent in Your sight. Amen. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, Philippians 4:8

  5. O Lord, thank You that absolutely nothing—not even the Devil’s best laid plans can separate me from you. Amen. Romans 8:38, Luke 4:1-13
