JOHN MCDOUGALL
John McDougall is a retired US Army Chaplain and a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan. After graduating from West Point, he was commissioned as an Infantry officer, graduated from Ranger School, and participated in the airborne invasion of Iraq with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. It was in Iraq that John heard God's calling to become a US Army Chaplain.
After completing seminary, John returned to active duty as a chaplain, serving a total of 16 years including two with the 82nd Airborne Division and three with 2nd Ranger Battalion. He was inspired to write "Jesus Was an Airborne Ranger" while returning from a training mission in Yakima, WA with the Rangers. Interestingly, he wrote the book while deployed in Afghanistan with a Ranger Battalion.
John lives with his wife and two dogs in Anchorage, Alaska. They have three children: two who are in college and one who is finishing high school. He is currently finishing a masters degree in mental health counseling. He plans to continue service to military, veterans and family members as a counselor. He regularly partners with Three Rangers Foundation during their annual hikes of Gold Star Peak in Chugiak, Alaska.
