JOHN DETRO

Colonel (Ret.) John F. Detro, DMSc, PA-C, is a former U.S. Army Ranger Medic and Physician Assistant with over three decades of service in elite military medicine and leadership. He served with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Forward Surgical Teams, and senior joint special operations medical commands, deploying multiple times in support of combat operations.

Following retirement, Dr. Detro transitioned to academic medicine and veteran advocacy, focusing on medical education, leadership development, and improving care for service members and veterans. He is the author of No Retreat No Surrender: The Making of an All-American, a memoir reflecting on service, resilience, and the enduring bonds of the Ranger community.

Dr. Detro remains committed to supporting Rangers and their families through mentorship, education, and service—living by the Ranger Creed and the principle of never leaving a fallen comrade.
