JAYSON TAYLOR

1/75 A Co, 3rd Plt (1994–1997)

Jayson Taylor’s life as a musician began at age 12 when he received his first drum set and taught himself to play. This early start built the rhythmic foundation that would shape his musical journey. Throughout his adolescence, he played drums in various rock bands, continuing to develop his skills and passion.

After enlisting in the Army, Jayson adapted his musicianship to barracks life by purchasing a guitar and teaching himself to play. At age 20, a parachuting accident left him on crutches for months—time he devoted to strengthening his guitar abilities.

Like many musicians, Jayson experienced pivotal “ah-ha” moments. One of the most influential was learning the solo from Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall, Part II, which opened the door to understanding pentatonic scales on guitar. His growing curiosity led him to explore prog rock and classical music, inspiring him to later teach himself piano.

Jayson eventually began a unique creative project inspired by works like Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon synced with The Wizard of Oz and Echoes synced with 2001: A Space Odyssey. His own creation was a full original soundscape designed to sync with the film 12 Monkeys. This project ignited his passion for film composing.

In his composition work, Jayson draws on both traditional orchestral instruments and modern sounds. He approaches each project without rigid rules, allowing the story and emotional tone of each scene to guide his musical choices. He deeply believes that music in film can have an impact equal to acting and cinematography.

Jayson’s influences span decades and genres—from Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Hendrix; from Vangelis, Zimmer, and Elfman to John Williams; from Holst and Stravinsky to John Barry and John Carpenter.

Jayson is committed to helping filmmakers bring their vision to life through powerful, thoughtful scoring. His goal is to collaborate closely and create something truly memorable.
