MORE LEADERSHIP THOUGHTS
Always ask yourself these questions when communicating. How does this apply to them? Most leaders are not very good at explaining that to their folks. How does this align at each level. How can I enable those I work with and that work for me to be successful? Again, it takes work to figure that out. Work to not take for granted that you understand it the same way your boss does, and that the folks that work for you understand it the same way you do. Work to appreciate that you don’t really know others’ jobs, and how they spend their time. You must listen as well as talk.
Rule #1. Take care of your people, as if it were your religion. Rule #2, see rule #1.
The hard part is getting alignment within a group. Top to bottom, left to right, and how visions, objectives and priorities apply to an individual at their level. No one should expect folks to figure this out on their own. It takes leadership.
Leadership is not something separate from the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of any job, but an integral part of overall success.
