STAN MCCHRYSTAL

Stan McChrystal was commissioned into the infantry upon graduating from West Point in 1976, and retired as a General in 2010. During his time in service McChrystal served three tours in the 82nd Airborne Division, was a ODA Commander in 7th Special Forces Group, a mechanized company commander in the 24th Mechanized Infantry Division, and commanded Company A, 3rd Ranger Battalion, 2nd Ranger Battalion, and the 75th Ranger Regiment. He served in the 1st Gulf War as part of a Special Operations Task Force, commanded Joint Special Operations Command from 2003-2008 – including combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, and completed his career as Commander, International Security Assistance Force – Afghanistan.

Upon departing the Army, McChrystal founded McChrystal Group, LLC, a Leadership Advisory and Consulting Firm, taught leadership at Yale’s Jackson Institute, and served on several corporate boards of directors, including Deutchebank USA, NAVISTAR, JetBlue Airways, Siemens Government Technologies, FiscalNote, and Accent Technologies.

He is a recipient of the US Infantry Doughboy Award and is a member of the Ranger Hall of Fame.

General (Ret) McChrystal is married to the former Annie Corcoran (the daughter of a career soldier), and has one son and three granddaughters.
