MIR BAHMANYAR

Mir Bahmanyar enlisted in the U.S. Army’s 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, where he exercised the Green-to-Gold Option and entered the Reserve Officer Training Corps before being medically discharged. Mir went on to serve on the Board of Directors for the 75th Ranger Regiment Association and was an Associate Historian of the World War Two Ranger Battalions Association. 

Mir has a B.A. in History from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.A. in War in the Modern World from King’s College London.

Mir is the author of ten books; his subject matter stems from ancient battles to current U.S. special operations, and his work has been published in English, German, Japanese, Polish, and Spanish. In addition, his articles have appeared in Kommando: International Special Operations Magazine (in German) and Soldier of Fortune magazine. In 2017, he participated in the conference on the U.S. Military Presence in Northern Ireland during the Second World War hosted in Belfast and Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, on the topic of Darby's Rangers and was a key contributor to the new exhibit at the U.S. Ranger Centre in Carrickfergus. 

Mir also co-wrote and produced the award-winning independent historical motion picture Soldier of God. He was a German language coach and military technical advisor to George Clooney and Cate Blanchett in the Steven Soderbergh directed motion picture The Good German and served as military consultant and researcher for Black Hawk Down, We Were Soldiers, and consulted for two seasons on ShowTime’s Sleeper Cell.
