KARL MONGER

Karl Monger was commissioned a 2d Lieutenant in 1983 from Wichita State University.  He served as a platoon leader and company executive officer in the 9th Infantry Division (Motorized), as a company commander and staff officer in the 25th Infantry Division (Light), and as a staff officer in the 1st Ranger Battalion.  Leaving active duty in 1993, he served as a staff officer in the 89th Army Reserve Command and was retired from the Individual Ready Reserve as a major in 2003.  After the terrorist attacks of 9/11, he began helping Rangers transition from active duty by building a network of Rangers across the country.  Based on that network and the concept of one-on-one mentoring, he founded GallantFew, Inc. in 2010 which has now documented over 9,000 services to veterans.

Monger has received awards from the Small Business Administration and several veteran organizations for his leadership in veteran issues, but the title he treasures the most is “Ranger Shepherd”, bestowed by a former CIA operative and Ranger veteran.  He is a Functional Emotional FitnessTM Certified Master Practitioner, was elected to the Trophy Club, Texas Town Council, and has served as president of Metroport Rotary.  He recently returned to school and is working towards his Master’s in Counseling at the University of North Texas.  He is married to Sara and has two daughters, two grandsons and two dogs.  He enjoys riding his bicycle long distances and teaching veterans how to sport rock climb.
